The Playford, Art Nouveau elegance in Adelaide
The Playford Adelaide - MGallery, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau and contemporary luxury, situated in Adelaide's vibrant heart. Once the site of Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper 'The News', the hotel was reimagined in 1997 to become Australia’s first genuine Arts hotel. Named after former premier Sir Thomas Playford, it embodies his progressive spirit within its refined walls.

Our Commitments
At The Playford, our heritage setting inspires a considered approach to sustainability - where true luxury is intentional, refined, and leaves a lighter imprint. Thoughtful practices are seamlessly woven into the guest experience, from energy-efficient technology and the elimination of single-use plastics to comprehensive recycling, refillable amenities, and locally sourced produce that connects plate to place. For us, sustainability is about progress, not perfection - quietly shaping better choices every day. We are also proud to support the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation, contributing to vital care, research, and programs that support families across our community.
Give Back to communities
Rooted in diversity, The Playford Adelaide - MGallery serves as a vibrant hub for Adelaide locals, creating a crossroads of stories, ideas, and enriching dialogue.
