Hotel La Citadelle Metz-MGallery

Stories & Commitments

A historic landmark reimagined for modern living

Built in 1559, La Citadelle Metz MGallery has been a landmark of Metz for over four centuries. Converted from a military building into a boutique luxury hotel in 2005, it now features 78 rooms, La Réserve Metz restaurant, and event spaces. Today, its preserved stone architecture meets modern hospitality—a destination to stay, dine, work, and celebrate.

A heritage spanning four centuries

Constructed in 1559 to supply the military citadel, the building’s original stone structure and vaulted spaces retain clear echoes of history. This heritage is not merely a backdrop—it gives La Citadelle Metz MGallery its unique character and soul.

From military might to refined sanctuary

Constructed in 1559 as the Magasin aux Vivres, this historic site served as a military storehouse, echoing Metz's fortitude.

Where historic heritage meets contemporary design

Renovation preserved the building's historic soul while introducing contemporary aesthetics. Warm Jaumont limestone dialogues with wood, glass, steel, and artworks by Paul Flickinger, crafting a harmony between memory and modern luxury hospitality.

Bringing history to life

Preserving La Citadelle Metz MGallery means keeping it alive. The hotel cultivates welcoming hospitality tied to its region, bringing together travelers, locals, and business guests.

For eco-friendly luxury !

Promoting French culture abroad while celebrating local cultures is one of the mission of La Citadelle Metz MGallery. We believe there is no better way to discover a destination  and its culture than by protecting the environment and contributing to the prosperity of  the local community.

Preserving our destination is just as important as the comfort of the bed you sleep in. At La Citadelle Metz MGallery, we are committed to protecting our environment. We know  there is still a long way to go, but we are determined to make a positive impact.

Here are some the initiatives we have implemented, and we invite you to join us in this commitment:

We have eliminated the use of more than 50 single-use plastic items throughout the hotel; we exclusively use environmentally friendly cleaning products; we have installed water-saving fixtures in our toilets and showers; we continuously rethink our breakfast offering and menus by removing threastened fish species and adopting pratices that reduce food waste; our organic waste is transformed into compost, enriching local soils; we monitor our energy consumption daily with the goal of reducing it; we promote eco-friendly excursions; and we organize events in partnership with local associations to raise awareness among our guests about the importance of protecting our environment.
