The Cup of Pythagoras – A Samian Wine Ritual
In the Curvus wine cellar, a sommelier pours Samian wines into a Cup of Pythagoras, a vessel with a hidden siphon that empties completely when overfilled – a metaphor for balance and self-restraint. Enjoy local honey, olives and herbs between pours. Each guest keeps their own cup: a piece of Samos to take home.

Getting here
Blue Star Ferries sails from Piraeus to Vathy port, the harbour closest to the hotel. The crossing takes 8 to 12 hours, depending on the vessel and route. Up to three sailings per week in summer.
The airport is about 14 km south of Vathy. Taxis take around 20 minutes. Local buses run between the airport and Vathy several times daily on weekdays.
Ferries from Kusadasi reach Vathy port in 1-2 hours. Services run daily in summer, less frequently in spring and autumn.
Local Life
On Samos, the island that gave the world Pythagoras and the Muscat grape, time moves differently. Here, beaches, ancient stones and abundant tables draw you into a slower, more attentive rhythm.

FAQs
Samos is a Greek island near the Turkish coast. It has its own international airport (SMI). Ferries connect the island to Piraeus (Greece) and Kusadasi (Turkey).
Samos is known for Muscat wine, scenic beaches and mountain villages. Walk to Vathy’s old quarter, visit the Wine Museum, book a coastal boat trip and drive or hike to the mountains.
Far from it. Samos sits quietly off the main tourist road – wild shores, unhurried harbour towns, and an island that still feels authentic.
Vathy, just five minutes from the hotel. A harbour town with real character – and just uphill, Ano Vathy’s neoclassical streets unfold into something quieter and older.
